Jacob B. Lewis

Jacob Lewis was born in Cheakamus in 1955 and currently resides in the upper Squamish Valley Reserve. Jacob began carving at a young age and became a prolific carver in his 20's. He studied art education at Capilano University and travelled to Europe expanding his knowledge of contemporary art. Jacob is internationally renowned for his elaborate original designs and is best known for his ability to bring traditional and contemporary forms together. Jacob mainly uses cedar and completes his designs with Paua Shells (abalone shells from New Zealand). His work has been displayed in exhibitions in North America and remains a part of prominent private collections throughout the world.
